We are going really great – amazing actually for our first year – I can't believe we have pulled through so well. Our local teachers are embracing and very proud of their new learning, and our children are really, really loving everything – that’s where I know I have done the right thing!
I am not having much luck with this volunteer position though (last year we ended up with a Swiss man who is quite a little older and I see he won’t be able to closely follow more than his new trainee next year (the heart is energy sucking, and then add his age, but he does a great job and we are lucky to have him with us), hence this second volunteer position. It seems that there are not many people out there who are up for a life of deprivation in Znz whilst getting paid peanuts for the pleasure (and some frustrations, ha ha). Hopefully there will be someone at the right stage of their life and ready to join us while we bed down our little school – fingers crossed.
If you have a fb account, check us out at www.facebook.com/cefzanzibar somehow we found the most amazing building – built for one of the sultan’s cousins – it’s got a prefect energy about it, but we will outgrow it within 2 years, boo hoo. There is plenty of space to build temp buildings though.
