The New Zealand Education Act 1989 is being currently reviewed and updated. A consultation process has been conducted by the Ministry of Education.
Information on this process can be found here http://www.education.
It is the position of the Federation that any review of the Education Act should start from the premise that children are at the very heart of education. Any updates to the Education Act should enable teachers, schools, parents and the education sector to assist children to develop their full human potential in a challenging and constantly changing social, cultural and technological environment.
The Federation’s submission to the review of the Act can be found here on the website.
